GPS UNITS ON ALL RENTAL CARTS We have a nice cart fleet of four wheel electric E-Z-Go carts with tops, windshields and raincovers. In 2007, we installed GPS units on each cart to help our players with distance. These units are permanently attached to and powered by the carts. Paxton Park is the first and only golf course in our area to offer this to our patrons. It should add more enjoyment to your experience at Paxton Park and speed up play. SEASON PASS NEWS LARGE INFRASTRUCTURE DONATION RECEIVED FROM PAXTON MEDIA GROUP AND PLANNED CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS IN 2008 AND 2009 In late 2007, Paxton Media Group, a local private philanthropic organization, decided to fund neeeded course infrastructure improvements. This generous donation has allowed the facility to complete various capital improvement projects during 2007 and 2008 including new chain link perimeter fencing, bunker renovation, additional ladies tees were enlarged and renovated, five aging bridges were replaced with new concrete bridges and approximately 1/3 of our asphalt cart paths were resurfaced, clubhouse downstairs lockers and flooring has been renovated. In 2010, an irrigation well will be installed as well as two water reservoirs. The excavated dirt from the lake will be used to raise number 15 fairway, which has historically been a chronically wet area for several days after significant rains. Our planned renovation will not significantly interfere with the players experience at Paxton Park because it will be done on a limited basis, a portion at a time. We are very thankful to Paxton Media Group for their donation to this facility because these major improvements would not be possible without their help. Edwin J. Paxton Park will be included in the 2008-2009 edition of Golf Digest's "Best Places To Play" for the first time ever. This is quite an honor. We are grateful to the Golf Digest readers who evaluated the Park in such a positive manner and we are very thankful to the many folks who helped make the renovations possible that led to this honor. It would not have been possible without the help of Kenny Perry, Russ Cochran, Burton Banks, Freddie Sanders, Mark Page, Super Valu, Paxton Media Group, City of Paducah, Keith Murt, West Kentucky Trade Unions, and each person who participated in the Super Valu Golf Scramble to Benefit Paxton Park each year it has been held and the many folks who have purchased memorial brick pavers. There are so many people who have helped make this Community facility better, we cannot possibly list them all ... but we are thankful for your help. YOU HAVE MADE A DIFFERENCE! Special recognition goes out to our golf course maintenance crew who work hard to not only maintain the course, but also install many of the renovations themselves. We would also like to thank the many volunteers who help our crew when it is "sod time"...we could not do it without you. THANK YOU!! . |
