NEW CART FLEET WITH GPS UNITS In 2007, a new cart fleet of four wheel electric E-Z-Go carts with tops, windshields and raincovers were put into service. In addition, we installed GPS units on the carts to help the golfers with distance. These units are permanently attached to and powered by the carts. Paxton Park is the first and only golf course in our area to offer this to our patrons. It should add more enjoyment to your experience at Paxton Park and speed up play. SEASON PASS NEWS LARGE INFRASTRUCTURE DONATION RECEIVED FROM PAXTON MEDIA GROUP AND PLANNED CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS IN 2008 AND 2009 In late 2007, Paxton Media Group, a local private philanthropic organization, decided to help fund neeeded course infrastructure improvements. This generous donation will permit the facility to complete the following capital improvement projects during 2008 and 2009: During 2008, new chain link perimeter fencing will be installed around portions of the facility which experience significant periodic nongolfing traffic. This will not only protect the course from vandalism but also protect our players from interference from unsupervised kids walking across the course. In summer 2008, some final bunker renovation will be completed; all remaining ladies tees will be enlarged and renovated as will be approximately six mens tees; and some water hazards will be dug out to enhance aesthetics and improve their ability to retain water and minimize maintenance labor; and several old former wintergreen bases will be removed and the dirt used to raise low areas and renovate tees. Five aging bridges will be replaced with four new concrete bridges and approximately 1/3 of our asphalt cart paths will be resurfaced in late 2008. Several cart paths will be rerouted as part of this process. The clubhouse downstairs lockers and flooring will also be renovated in late 2008. In late 2009, an irrigation well will be installed as well as a water reservoir. The excavated dirt from the lake will be used to raise number 15 fairway, which has historically been a chronically wet area for several days after significant rains. Our planned renovation will not significantly interfere with the players experience at Paxton Park because it will be done on a limited basis, a portion at a time. We are very thankful to Paxton Media Group for their donation to this facility because these improvements would not be possible without their help. . |
