Tournament Information

Paxton Park hosts several large tournaments each year in addition to numerous smaller events such as church or corporate outings. The dates for our larger events are scheduled below:

PEPSI SUPER VALU IRVIN COBB CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Pepsi Super Valu Irvin Cobb Golf Championships feature professionals and amateurs alike and is the premiere event in our area. This tournament is a 36 hole event and is preceded by a Pro-Am on Friday. The field is comprised of approximately 44 pros and 91 amateurs who compete in their respective divisions, play in threesomes and is held on the 3rd full weekend in July.

The dates for the 2012 Pepsi Super Valu Irvin Cobb Championships will be July 20 (Pro Am), 21 & 22, 2012. Entry forms will be mailed out, or available for download, in May, 2012. The 2011 champions are: Professional Division--Lucas Cromeenes of Paducah, KY (shot 135) and in the Amateur Division--Kody Alexander of Humboldt, TN (shot 135).

BANTERRA BANK GREATER PADUCAH AMATEUR MENS AND LADIES GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Banterra Bank Greater Paducah Amateur Mens and Ladies Golf Championships are held at Paxton Park on the 3rd full weekend in August each year. This event is open to any amateur golfer who desires to compete, irregardless of his or her residency. This tournament is limited to the first 120 paid paticipants, the field plays in threesomes and the event includes a Senior division (60 and over) that will play from senior tees and a Junior division (under 18).

The 2012 dates for the Paducah Amateur will be August 18 & 19, 2012. The 2011 mens champion is Mark Knecht of Paducah (131) and the 2011 ladies champion is Dawn Wientjes of Metropolis, IL (152).  The 2011 senior champion is Tommy Thomas of Paducah (142) and the 2011 junior champion is Aaron Owen of Marion, KY (170).  Results of the 2011 event are available for download.

TEXAS ROADHOUSE CREDIT BUREAU TRI-STATES SENIOR GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Texas Roadhouse Credit Bureau Tri-States Senior Golf Championships are held at Paxton Park each year for male amateur golfers age 50 and older. It has both an amateur division and a professional division and is limited to the first 160 paid participants. Players compete within their own age groups (i.e. 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 and older). The event traditionally draws players primarily from Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas and Tennessee.

The 2012 dates for the Texas Roadhouse Credit Bureau Tri-States Senior Golf Championships will be September 15 & 16, 2012. The defending amateur champion is Mike Shelbourne of Paducah and the defending professional champion is Walt Siemsglusz of Belleville, IL.

SUPER VALU CHARITY EVENT TO BENEFIT PAXTON PARK AND JUNIOR GOLF

The Super Valu Charity Event To Benefit Paxton Park and Junior Golf was started in 2002 and has featured PGA Tour Professionals Russ Cochran and Kenny Perry each of the last 8 years. This event was started to provide funds to help make necessary capital improvements to Paxton Park and all proceeds go into a special account which is used for that purpose, and beginning in 2007, 50% of the proceeds benefit Junior Golf. It is a fun, 4 person scramble event that takes on the atmosphere of a reunion more than a golf tournament. It is a chance for people to watch Kenny and Russ play some golf and have some fun mixing it up with friends and fans alike.

We are very appreciative of Russ Cochran, Kenny Perry, Freddie Sanders and Mark Page for their efforts each year on behalf of this event. They have busy schedules and the fact they continue to come back and help this facility each year is huge and we deeply appreciate their help. 

This event will be held on Tuesday, September 6 in 2011.  Participation information can be obtained from Pro Shop personnel.  Get your entries in early because we expect the event to fill up earlier than normal this year.  Kenny, Russ and Freddie are all expected in 2011.
