Paducah Golf

Nice, gently rolling championship golf course with 2 large lakes providing water on 5 holes and the ultimate in high quality greens--Champion ultradwarf bermuda, which is replacing bentgrass in the South on many courses that desire bentgrass quality putting surfaces and bermuda heat tolerance. The ball rolls true and fast on Champion, just like excellent bentgrass greens. Tee boxes are zoysia and bermuda and we have 4 sets of tees on each hole. Fairways are Bermuda grass.

George Davies, born in the British Isles not so many miles from the cradle of the game of golf itself, was the architect who laid out the original design of Paxton Park and supervised its building way back in 1939 and 1940.  The course has had several significant renovations since that time but much of the original design is still intact.

Paxton Park recently finished as the favorite golf course in our regional area.  We finished as the "Winner"  in the "Favorite Golf Course" category in The Paducah Sun's 2013 Annual Readers' Choice Awards.  Paxton Park was the Runner-Up Finalist (2nd place) golf course in the 2012 survey, second only to The Country Club of Paducah.  We are thankful to all the voters that voted Paxton Park their favorite golf course in our regional area.

Paxton Park is among the courses that were rated in the 2008-2009 edition of Golf Digest's "Best Places To Play". We are proud of the fact that Golf Digest readers evaluated our course in such a positive manner. It is quite an honor to be included on this listing and we are grateful for that.  Paxton Park is the ONLY course in the area that renovates something every year and has for the last 10 years...our goal is to consistently provide a better product to our golfers.

This course hosts two large regional events each year featuring professionals and amateurs alike. The Pepsi Super Valu Irvin Cobb Golf Championship is held here each year in July and is considered the top local golf tournament in the four state regional area. The Texas Roadhouse/Credit Bureau Systems Tri-States Senior Golf Championships are held here each year in September and is considered one of the premier senior golf events in our area. The Banterra Bank Greater Paducah Area Amateur Golf Championships are held in August each year.

Senior PGA Tour Player Russ Cochran and PGA Tour Player Kenny Perry grew up playing this course and come back each year to help host the Super Valu Paxton Park Benefit Tournament which raises money for continued renovation efforts at this fine 65 year old facility and promoting junior golf as well.

The facility has hosted other championship events such as Kentucky Open qualifying (2011), KHSAA Regional Championships (2010 and 2012), host site for the annual Pepsi Junior Tour western Kentucky golf swing (2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013), and a US Junior Tour event (2012 and 2013).  We will also host a KGA Western Kentucky Junior Golf Championship in 2013.
